bridal shower invite

MY SISTER IS GETTING MARRIED!
my other sister and i are planning the shower for her. it's just all so exciting! i wanted to show off the invite but don't want her to see it, i think i'm safe since she never checks out my blog! (why does my camera need the date re-set again? i think i just did that last week! the kids must be messing with it... DH is going to be thrilled!) anywho, card base is whisper white (SU), patterned paper is provo craft. i put the patterned paper through the cuttlebug for the embossed swirly background. heart stamp on side is SU, lingerie stamp is all night media (both were borrowed from friends, thanks ann & kate!), "it's a girl thing" is from a $1 michaels clear set. layered paper is whisper white, pretty in pink, and basic black (SU). $1 stitched black ribbon from wal*mart. used dazzling diamonds on hearts; using my new quickie glue pinpoint roller (this is just fabulous! i got it at the show in puyallup, it was an add on. i was ready to pay, the nice lady said "do you have one of our glue pens? they're 2 for $5." i said ok. you can never have too many glue pens. but this pen, this incredible pen, writes out glue like a ballpoint pen! it's such a perfect little line or dot! i recommend this product! and here i've gotten off the subject at hand, again...) , i put fruit punch stickles on the bodice; sakura gelly roll pen on the straps; susie sparkle orange sorbet transparent glitter for the dots. on the inside i used more of the $1 michaels stamps for the "you're invited" and "who, what, when, where, why". well, it's late, DH already went to bed, i have to work tomorrow, better go. hope you have a great day!

below you will find the add for the punch that i cannot wait to come in stock so i can buy it! it's located here if you're interested (at createforless. com). just wanted to share the product and the price! i found about 7 on ebay today, all of which were $25 or over (+ shipping!) and have not found one for under $20 anywhere. i guess that would explain why they're out of stock....

i am proud of my mom

and 3 years later, i can finally show her off. she is the proud graduate of evergreen state college in olympia. even though she already had a job, her kids were grown, she wanted the self satisfaction of graduating college. she went to night classes so she could continue working during the day. i hope that someday my children will be half as proud of me as i am of my mother.
back to the page, i know, once again, i crammed TONS of stuff onto paper. this is a 12x12 page. i made the background paper (well, started with a 12x12 of whisper white then went just crazy with my polka dots and petals & polka dots and paisley sets, both from the spring mini catalog.) since i didn't get the right "vibe" from any paper that i had on hand. ok, i used so many colors: mellow moss & certainly celery; ballet blue & bashful blue; elegand eggplant & lavender lace; pixie pink & pretty in pink; pumpkin pie & summer sun; basic black. on all the underlayers for the pictures, i used the dotted background stamp from the polka dots and paisely set. the "celebrate" and "happiness*joy*bliss*laugh" stamps are $1 stamps from michaels. i used more flowers from that bread bag full of flowers that i got at the goodwill for cheap. i also used my SU flower punch, my cuttlebug (arrows & lines of arrows, some flowers), stapler, sparkle gel pen, silver square brads. i hope mom likes it!

chirp up (& the stamp show)

it's now mid-may and i still hadn't used my sell-a-bration sets (except the "big blossom" stamp on my scrapbook pages). i still feel so refreshed and inspired from yesterday ---different story: yesterday (saturday 5/19) i got to go to the heirloom stamp show in puyallup. this is my third show and my tastes have rubbed off on others. we left early enough to make sure we had time to stop by krispy kreme to get our nutritious breakfast, and we each got a dozen to take to the DH. not as many make-N-takes as the show at the tacoma dome, smaller space too. my biggest disappointment was that darcies wasn't there. i browsed that site a few weeks ago during a 25% off sale and decided to wait to purchase the sets i wanted at the show. then no darcies. little more disappointed than i think i should have been. VERY impressed with the stampcapes booth. there was a constant crowd around it so we were unable to make anything there. judikins, stamps by judith, auntie amy were all there too. we had a great time, got to see some new products, got some deals on older products, and came home feeling refreshed and inspired! i can't wait till the tacoma dome show!
--anyways, i got the inspiration to do something with my "very punny" set from sell-a-bration that i've had sitting since january...collecting dust...doing nothing but taking up space and making me feel oh so uncreative. so i did a simple little cheer-you-up card for a friend. the background is TAC stamps (just love those whirly-twirlies!). i used my sakura sparkle gelly roll pen to add some sparkle to the background. card base is pretty in pink, stamped image on whisper white and colored with color pencils, mounted image on ppink and certainly celery. found the ribbon in my ribbon drawer (isn't that awful! i have no idea what kind or where i got it... i can't even tell if it's blue, pink, or white! i think that's grounds for the DH to get me better light in here!). simple, cute, will hopefully do the job.

oh, what a scene!

well, my second go at the "single layer" card went a little better than the first. is it "single layer" or "scenic"? oh well, no matter. i am so very proud of this, it took me a few hours from start to finish, my mom was over making cards with me. she made 3 cards total, i hadn't even started coloring yet! that was such a boost to her ego! i used lots of different stamps for this card: the bee is by stampendous; the grass is by DRS; dog, fence & butterfly are dollar store stamps; ducks are PSX; girl & scooter are SU; cat is from TAC. LOTS & LOTS & LOTS of masking! re-masked after stamping to use chalk to color the background. all the images were colored with color pencils and odorless mineral spirits. used my white gel pen on the bee wings, the girls collar, the cats spots. i had a lot of fun making this and it will definitely be top of the pile for awhile!

Sisters

i have had these pictures of the girls for SOOO long (it feels like forever) and finally got the inspiration to do something with them. like i said before, i just absolutely LOVE the doodle this set from the spring mini. did i also mention that i tend to over-do it and keep adding, adding, adding until my husband comments, "looks like a scrapbook store threw up on your page", then i know it's done. =)
the girls just loved picnic's, but there were too many bees outside this day. we decided to have an indoor picnic! little did we know that we would start a new family tradition that would continue for years...
i started this as an 8.5x11 page, added some designer series SU paper to the right side and mounted it on a 12x12 sheet. the stamps i used were so very (winter mini), big blossom (sell-a-bration), and doodle alphabet & doodle this (spring mini). i used my SU flower punch to add some dimensional flowers and puffy paints on almost everything. i found a bread bag at the local thrift store that was filled with silk flowers. i bought the whole bag for $0.50 and took it home and tore them all apart. i have used the crap out of those fake flowers! i put some buttons on some of the flowers, used some ribbon, basically anything that i could find and would fit i used. i just love this page! if it weren't pictures of my kids i would say just how "me" this page is!
